At a meeting in Sharkx Snooker Club on Tuesday 29th March 2016, 5 new Ladies Billiards and Snooker Associations were officially established complete with constitutions and elected committee’s of each.
These associations are now affiliated to the Republic of Ireland Ladies Snooker Association as part of its 10 year plan to grow the sport among women and girls all over Ireland.
The growth of RILSA members and it’s schools and colleges initiative has made this possible, as we set about a programme to build a secure foundation and create the environment for our players at all levels.
The following associations were formed and elected officers
The Ladies Munster Billiards & Snooker Association
Chairperson Annette Newman
Annette has over 30 years experience in the sport and is the current National Champion at both Snooker & Billiards. She is our National Treasurer and has held many positions on the RILSA committee over the years. Annette is a huge asset to our association.
Secretary Leona O’Connor
Leona is our National Secondary School-College Officer and held the position as Secretary on RILSA in the past. She is the Colaiste Chluan Meala Snooker Co ordinator for the School for the past 4 years.
Committee Member Darragh Hackett
Darragh has been involved with the Dublin Snooker Federation since 2000 and is currently the Secretary of the Templemore snooker club Co Tipperary.
The Ladies Leinster Billiards & Snooker Association
Chairperson Tina Keogh
Tina is our current National Secretary on RILSA and is with the Association for the past two years. She is currently ranked 7th in Ireland and our number 1 player on the Intermediate National rankings.
Secretary Claire McRedmond
Claire joined RILSA just over 18 months ago and is very much in support of women’s snooker.
Committee Member Larry O’Dea
Larry is the Stars Academy Ireland President and has vast experience both as a player and referee for over 65 years. A person of great knowledge and with all those years involved, will be a huge asset to our association.
The Ladies Connaught Billiards & Snooker Association
Chairperson Gerard Colleran
Gerard is the RILSA sports Science Officer. He has a vast amount of experience in this area and will be conducting lectures to our members during the coming months. Currently Lecturing at Tallaght IT in Dublin
Secretary Valerie Maloney
Valerie is the current RILSA Assistant Treasurer and is involved with the association for two years. Currently ranked 8th in Ireland on the National rankings. Valerie was the 2014 National Intermediate Champion.
Committee Member Ann McMahon
Ann has many years experience as a player with RILSA and has sat on committees in the past. Her vast knowledge and experience will be a great asset to the association. Ann has won the National Championship on 4 occasions in the past.
The Ladies Ulster Billiards & Snooker Association
Chairperson Margaret Browne
Margaret the current RILSA President has many years of experience both as a player and on committees. She was Secretary back in the late 80′ and early 90’s. Margaret was part of the first ever female snooker team to play England in 1978. A woman of great knowledge and is a huge asset to our association
Secretary Dave Seales
Dave is part of the Dublin Snooker Federation & Stars Academy Ireland since 2006 and is the current Griffith Tour treasurer. He has great knowledge and experience as both a player and a committee member.
Committee Member Stephanie Coyle
Stephanie hails from Belfast and is currently building a group of players in Northern Ireland and has been a fan of the sport for most of her life and is willing to help and support RILSA in any way possible.
The Ladies Dublin Billiards & Snooker Association
Chairperson Dan Carroll
Dan is the current RILSA Chairman and with over 40 years of experience in the sport along with being involved with the women’s sport of snooker since 1989, has vast experience in this area. He is a World Snooker Coach and qualified Sports Psychologist.
Secretary Cathy Dunne
Cathy has many years of experience in the Sport and has been on previous committees. She is currently 5th on the National rankings after a number of years away. Her knowledge and experience will be of great help to our association.
Committee Member Ronan Deegan
Ronan our current Vice Chairman, has many years experience both as a player and committee member, his help and support is very much needed by our association.
