Tuesday 7th October was a great day for Stars Academy Ireland, when the first ever National Primary Schools Snooker Championship took place at the Ivy Rooms Carlow, with representatives from Ballinabranna and Hacketstown Primary Schools in Carlow and from The Glebe in Wicklow, the stage was set for a great days snooker.  In the prelimary rounds Bradley Walsh from Hacketstown N.S had a good win over Mark Fitzgerald of Ballinabranna N.S., Max Richards of the Glebe in Wicklow got through beating Josh Hughes of Ballinabranna.  Hacketstown’s Sean Mulvany saw off Scott Younger of the Glebe to complete the quarter final line up.

Primary School Boys Group Championships 2014

In the Quarter finals Bradley Walsh had a good win over Max Richards.  Dylan Doyle from Hacketstown saw off Dylan Delaney from Ballinabranna to meet Bradley in the semis.  Robin Austin from the Glebe in Wicklow took it on the colours against Hacketstown’s Cathal Foley and Sean Mulvany secured his spot in the semis by beating William Walsh from Ballinabranna.

Bradley Walsh was in fine form and beat Dylan Doyle comfortably to see him through to the final, on the other table Sean Mulvany saw off Robin Austin to complete the all Hacketstown final.

In the final both players were playing great snooker and it all came down to the blue, pink and black,  however Sean held his nerve and potted blue and pink for game and match and the title of Primary Schools National Snooker Champion 2014.  Congratulations to Sean on his win and to Bradley on his fine performance.  Thanks to all the boys for taking part and thanks to the teachers and mentors and to Marian of the Ivy rooms for providing excellent facilities.
