The Griffith Snooker Open Tour 4 took place recently at Sharkx Newbridge. The final was a father and son match when Dave and son Gary Seales contested the Tour 4 event. Dave had good wins over Simon Scott in the Quarters and Ronan Deegan in the semis 2 frames to 1 respectively with breaks of 30, 28, 25, 23 for a place in the final. Gary Seales was in fine form beating Steve Patten 2 nil in his quarter final and played good snooker against the current tour leader Dan Carroll 2-1 to meet his dad Dave in the final. The final saw some great snooker played, with Dave taking the first frame and Gary levelling the match at 1-1. Dave produced a good 31 in the 3rd frame and went on to win and retain the Griffith Open title. Congratulations to Dave on his win and to Gary on a fine performance. Thanks to Annette for refereeing the final and to all the players for their support on the day. Congratulations to Simon Scott on taking the plate final against Steve Patten the current no 1 on the plate rankings.
That tour win for Dave now brings him into the top 4 ranked players and in contention for money prize at the end of the season. Dan Carroll leads on 470 points closely followed by Ronan Deegan on 400, 3rd place is Annette Newman on 380 and Dave in 4th with 330 points. The plate top 4 are Steve Patten, Annette Newman, Simon Scott and Dave Seales again these places will receive prize money at end of season, however there are 3 more tour rankings still to be played along with the Championship and nobody is safe yet as the remaining players still have the opportunity of knocking some of these off their spots. A special thanks to Bernie of Sharkx for providing excellent facilities on the day. Our next tour is on in Joeys Snooker Club, Dublin Saturday 28th June 2014.
